In reproduction, sperm binding to the female egg is critical for fertilization to progress.  Research across species found that a portion of males have low binding due to the lose of a protein on the surface of the sperm.  The native protein was identified by Roy Hammerstedt and colleagues  After identifying the protein, they developed the protocols and methods to manufacture the fertility peptide which restores binding of sperm to egg.
